ShadeDweller® PRO Kit (12")

This isn't so much a review of the product as much as the people selling it. A few weeks ago, I purchased an Arcadia Shade Dweller kit from Light Your Reptiles. When it eventually arrived, it didn't work. I want to take this chance to apologize to LYR. When my Shade Dweller failed to work, I wrote a scathing and altogether unfair review of the product and LYR in general. Once I calmed down, I realized that my review had been unjustified. Even among the best products - and Arcadia makes some darn good products - defective units are occasionally produced and sold. That's simply the way it is. LYR just happened to send me one of those units without their knowledge. It was wrong of me to react the way I did to what was obviously an honest mistake. I'm sorry. The following Monday, I called them and explained the situation. Not only did they send me a replacement kit, but they did so at no additional cost to me and without asking me to send them back the defective unit! Even after I told them about the review I sent. These people really do care about their customers. I take my hat off to them not just for their selection of products but also for their understanding, patience and quality of service. And in case you're still wondering, this is a phenomenal product and I am very happy with it. I think my corn snake is too.

This T5 light was recommended in the Facebook group, All About Leopard Geckos to provide my gecko with adequate UVB exposure to prevent Metabolic Bone Disease and other ailments. Light Your Reptiles were also recommended as a reputable company to purchase the T5 light kit. The shipping was super fast and the packaging was beyond adequate to offer the bulb and housing protection during shipping. It was a super easy set up that included mounting brackets for wooden terrariums and linking cables to connect multiple light fixtures together for use with a timer if needed. The cord is a good length and has a manual on/off switch as well if needed. Set up was as simple as inserting the bulb into the reflector hood, laying the bulb kit across the top of my metal mesh screen and attaching it to my timer for easy use. I look forward to giving my gecko the very best and improving his quality of life. Thank you for offering this at an affordable price compared to other websites and brands available. I will be buying my replacement T5 bulbs from LYR as well so I look forward to being a repeat customer. My gecko and I thank you very much!

I have a couple.of these and like how compact they are. Its nice to daisy chain a few together and quality is good for the price.

Rescued a leopard gecko without uvb lighting. After just a few days she has so much energy that she is hunting her own food again!

I have used Arcadia bulbs for 3 years now & their new ProT5 kits are great with options for installation & being able to connect up to 10 units on 1 power cord saves on the "ugly cord syndrome" of messy cords everywhere!

Bought this unit partly for the Vitamin D benefits and partly to establish a day/night cycle for my guy, and it is amazing how quickly he's taken to it! The light rests on top of his Exo Terra 36x18x18, with hides and other branches underneath (for varying heights and proximity to the light - he's a hypomelanistic scaleless, so I wanted options for him to get either close or far away) and he really utilizes all of those things, with a distinct "waking up" routine as soon as that light pops on in the morning (and, being crepuscular, he's started an evening routine too). The only thing that could possibly make this better would be a dimmable T5 fixture for the complete dawn/dusk cycle, but in the meantime this really is the best that we've used.

Arrived within the following week ...packaged well, and everything intact. I wanted to give my leopard gecko a source of UV, and she is already sticking leg or a tail out in the light to absorb a few rays while she’s cozy in her hides. Very happy with my purchase.

Easy to assemble, great quality light. First time trying Arcadia lights and I am pleased. The reflector is cool and points all the UV downwards, the Daisy chain feature is also nice. Great stuff! Will buy again

I ordered a deep heat projector and two t5 shadedweller kits! Everything came in the mail fairly quick and was packaged with care and thought. I would highly recommend their customer service and their products seem to be priced fairly for their performance. My leopard geckos seem to be very happy now :)
